Bloc Party To Return With New Material

According to Kele Okereke...

Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke has confirmed that the band are working on a new album.

Throughout it all, Bloc Party are still Bloc Party. Rumours last year suggested that the band could be set to part company, with Kele Okereke releasing a full length solo album.

However during an interview with Zane Lowe on Radio 1 this morning (January 3rd) the singer revealed that Bloc Party are working on new material. The genial Kiwi introduced Kele Okereke, who confirmed plans for a fourth album from the British group.

Placed on hiatus in October 2010, the various members of Bloc Party have embarked on an array of solo projects. However the band’s frustration about the lack of forward momentum seemed to show last year, when Kele Okereke gave a controversial interview to the NME.

Appearing to suggest that Bloc Party wanted to replace him, the frontman later blasted the magazine and claimed that the comments were a joke.

Writing on his blog, Kele Okereke said:

“hmm, i dont know what to make of this. a big part of me is laughing HARD at all of this but another part of me is all like WTF? im quite curious as to what a bloc party audition would be like? i wonder if they would let me sit on the panel so i could be a judge tyra banks style?”

Bloc Party are currently in the studio.

To celebrate, here’s the video for ‘Flux’…
