UK indie giants Bloc Party more details of their new single “Mercury” after it was given a world exclusive airing on the Zane Lowe show.
The band have laying low since the release of second album “A Weekend In The City”, but Bloc Party are set to return with the new single “Mercury” set to be released on August 11th.
Speaking live on the show, lead singer Kele Okereke said “we’re still writing and working on it so it’s quite hard to have an overview really, we are making the record I always wanted us to make”.
The single will be available on CD, heavyweight 12 inch and heavyweight 7 inch formats, and all releases come with a metallic sleeve. As well as new song “Idea For A Story”, there will be remixes of “Mercury” by CSS and Herve, amongst others.
The band emerged from the London underground rock scene with a series of small scale releases before the success of their debut album “Silent Alarm” in 2005.
Bloc Party release their new single “Mercury” on August 11th, with the video currently streaming live on their official website.
