Bloc Party Share Surprise Single ‘Flirting Again’

Ahead of their Crystal Palace Park show...

Bloc Party have shared surprise single ‘Flirting Again’.

The band are are on something of a roll, with their headline date at London’s Crystal Palace Park on July 7th selling out weeks in advance. Playing a high-profile Glastonbury slot at the Other Stage on June 29th, they’ll bring new material with them.

Kele Okereke’s solo album ‘The Waves Pt. 2’ landed last year, a song cycle about desire, and learning to put yourself out there once more. The frontman takes these themes into Bloc Party’s work on their new single, an urgent, dynamic piece of guitar music.

There’s a pop flourish to its construction, with ‘Flirting Again’ tapping into the blossoming energies of summer. “’Flirting Again’ is about being thrust back into the scene and trying to remember how it all works,” says Kele Okereke. “It’s about trying to appear desirable, whilst at the same time hiding the hurt that defines you. We are all carrying around the various scars that we have accumulated over the years, the heartbreaks that have come to shape how we give love and receive love. This song is about picking yourself up and carrying on.”

The new material is coupled to broader archive activity. Earlier in 2024 the band went back to their origins, sharing 2005 single ‘Two More Years’ and ‘Little Thoughts’ EP on streaming for the first time – expect more rarities to reach DSPs soon.

Tune in now.
