Blawan will release his new EP ‘Dismantled Into Juice’ on May 17th.
The influential UK producer channelled a concrete-hard take on Brutalist techno, before broadening his sound and absorbing other outre influences. Now associated with XL Recordings, his recent viral cut ‘Woke Up Right Handed’ supplied one of club culture’s more endearing modern ear-worms.
New EP ‘Dismantled Into Juice’ follows this, with the producer – Jamie Roberts – set to release the project in full this Spring.
Switching up his methods once again, Blawan interpolates vocal snippets from rising singer Monstera Black into his work. New track ‘Toast’ is out now, and the wobbly electronics have an oblique directness to them.
Breaking new ground once more, the dynamic production is laced with colour, but there’s a dogged subtlety in there, too. At once familiar while also stepping into new ground, ‘Toast’ is Blawan at his most engaging, and yet also unexpected.
