Black Sabbath played their final show in Birmingham last night (February 5th).
The band are widely credited with laying down the blueprint for heavy metal, with their down-tuned riffs containing near volcanic levels of inspiration.
Deciding to bow out, Black Sabbath arranged a final hometown show in Birmingham as a means of saying farewell to fans.
Supporters travelled from all over the world to the NEC Arena, and were met with a nostalgia-tinged set that largely drew on those first five albums.
Ending with ‘Paranoid’ - the band’s first breakout success – the final song was streamed live on Facebook.
So, here it is: this is the way Black Sabbath ends, not with a whimper but a bang.
