Leather clad psych rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have firmed up plans to release their new album ‘Beat The Devil’s Tattoo’.
Emerging from the ever creative mad-house known as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club share a similar musical vision.
Draped in dark clothes the band have released some stunning psych-rock in the past, before line up problems began to kick in. Drummer Nick Jago caused no end of problems in two controversial spells before Black Rebel Motorcycle Club went full independent.
Releasing the highly experimental album ‘The Effects Of 333’ on their own label Abstract Dragon the band endured a torrent of abuse from fans. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club seemed to have jettisoned any intention of writing cohesive songs, but it seems that melody it out in force on their new album.
Retreating to The Basement Studio in Philadelphia the band re-traced their steps. 2007’s ‘Howl’ was recorded in the studio, and it seems that the setting has help Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to recover their appetite.
Their first collection with new drummer Leah Shapiro ‘Beat The Devil’s Tattoo’ follows swiftly on from a recent live album. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club specialise in drone-ridden rock ‘n’ roll.
The band are also set to play an extensive UK tour next year. Opening in Glasgow on April 16th, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are set to travel across the country with shows scheduled to finish in Brighton on April 29th.
