American flower punks Black Lips played an incredible show at London’s Heaven venue last night (September 16th), with the band stripping onstage amid chaotic scenes.
The band are infamous for their onstage bravado, and on a good night can be capable of anything. Debut album “Good Bad Not Evil” combined this raucous appeal with some nifty songwriting, and was one of the more surprising treats of 2007.
The gig at London club Heaven descended into chaos almost from the moment the band appeared, with security battling with stage diving fans through the set – which ended with guitarist Cole Alexander playing his instrument with his penis. Lordy!
After a half hour of stage invasions and crowd diving the security for the venue ordered the sound to be cut – to a chorus of boos and catcalls from the audience. The band were told to ask the crowd to calm down yet they refused, and continued playing through their own amps rather than the venue’s PA.
The gig ended with the band repeatedly throwing themselves into the crowd, with a team of security guards attempting to restrain them.
