Black Lips are set to team up with Mark Ronson during the recording of their forthcoming album.
One of the most outrageous bands on the planet, Black Lips have a penchant for provoking audiences. Whether that is through their music or simply by drinking urine, fighting and kissing onstage is up to them.
Working on new material, the Atlanta group are preparing to hit the studio. However according to a new interview from the band Black Lips are set to team up with none other than Mark Ronson.
Superstar producer he may be, Mark Ronson would seem a little too clean cut for Black Lips. Speaking to Creative Loafing, singer Jared Swilley confirmed that The Business Intl head honcho would chair recording sessions.
Set to be released in Spring, Vice will once again handle the release.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Black Lips singer spoke about his father coming out. Jared Swilley was born into a strictly religious family, and his father works as a lay preacher in Atlanta.
Recently admitting his sexuality, Swilley Snr is facing entrenched bigotry from some in his own congregation. Looking back on the moment he found out, the singer appears proud of his father’s stance.
“When my dad told me he was gay, he asked me if it would affect our relationship, and I said, ‘Are you kidding me? No, it’s not going to affect our relationship.’ But it does take a lot of balls to come out in an environment like that, and I think I respect him a little more now” he explained.
“He’s tougher now that he came out of the closet, which was probably one of the toughest things he could have done. I thought it was pretty bad ass.”
