Black Kids Solo Project Details

Starring Vivian Girls and more...

Black Kids singer Owen Holmes has confirmed details of a collaboration heavy new EP.

Black Kids may be best known for indie stompers such as ‘I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You’ but it seems that the band’s heart belongs to rather more challenging fare.

Singer Owen Holmes is taking time out of the band to work on a new EP, which contains some surprisingly credible collaborations. Working under the name Gospel Music, forthcoming EP ‘Duettes’ is due to be released on November 29th.

Containing five tracks, the release will be available on ten inch vinyl and as a digital download. A collection of five collaborations, the list of guest performers contains some striking indie-pop names.

Camera Obscura singer Tracy-Anne Campbell appears on the new EP, adding her vocals to ‘Automobile’. The Glasgow vocalist has recorded with Owen Holmes, crafting one of the highlights of ‘Duettes’.

Due to be released on November 29th, other guest performers include Cassie Ramone from Brooklyn shoegaze group Vivian Girls. No strangers to collaborations, Vivian Girls have previously worked with Male Bonding, amongst others.

Elsewhere, Magnetic Fields collaborator Shirley Simms adds her vocals while one time Hefner singer Darren Hayman also appears. Now a noted solo artist, Hayman helped record the track ‘Reinheitsgebot’.

Part of an ongoing project, Owen Holmes has not confirmed if Gospel Music will be a touring project.

Gospel Music are set to release ‘Duettes’ on November 29th. Tracklisting:

‘I Miss The Shit Out Of You (Featuring SoKo)’
‘Gamophobia (Featuring Shirley Simms)’
‘Automobile (Featuring Tracyanne Campbell)’
‘Reinheitsgebot (Featuring Darren Hayman)’
‘Are Your Parents Still Together? (Featuring Cassie Ramone)’
