London artist Biig Piig has today shared her new single ‘Decimal’, out via RCA.
The dancefloor belter, which pivots between lyrics sung in English and Spanish, hews closely to the energy of nocturnal anthem ‘4AM’, released a few week ago. Both singles are previews of a forthcoming debut album, which Biig Piig has been working on in since her 2023 mixtape ‘Bubblegum‘.
The feverish ‘Decimal’ was written at Motorbass studios in Paris, founded by the late great Philippe Zdar. The functional studio space has birthed many iconic electronic tracks through the years, and its storied history informed the dusky, surround sound feel of much of Biig Piig’s new era.
Of the track, Biig Piig explains: “Decimal is a track about connecting with someone from across the room in a club, in a sweaty environment and it just feeling electric. I wrote it in Motorbass studios in Montmartre in Paris with Andrew Wells. The way we found the tempo was to a strut I did across the room. That’s how I wanted the energy of the track to be, like a feel yourself moment. It called for Spanish verses too, something I haven’t done in a minute. Just the feel of the track and the intimacy of it made me want to write those imagining them like a whisper in someone’s ear.”
‘Decimal’ ups the volume and tempo, teasing “a record full of cities, strangers, synchronicity, and an unflinching exploration of the self.”
The single arrives alongside Episode 2 of a series of short films and vignettes written by Biig Piig to accompany the record.
