Noise rock duo The Big Pink have claimed that they are working on new material which could be released as an EP.
The Big Pink emerged earlier this year. With a back story including running one of the nation’s hippest indie labels, playing with Alec Empire and more the duo seemed to arrive fully formed with a killer debut album up their sleeves.
After a handful of singles releases to whet the appetites The Big Pink launched their debut album earlier this year. ‘A Brief History Of Love’ was a huge success, but in a new interview Robbie Furze revealed that the band struggled to piece the material together.
“I like our songs but we haven’t really found our feet in terms of direction,” he revealed recently. “We had our heads in our hands at times when we were recording the album at Electric Lady in New York,” the singer told Drowned In Sound.
“Wondering what we were going to include, going through the list of songs we could use and then whittling it down to 11 at the end. We were up against the clock to get the album finished, and a few (tracks) just fell by the wayside a little bit.”
These rejected tracks could see the light of day, with The Big Pink possibly due to release an EP to coincide with an upcoming tour.
“We’re talking about writing an EP while we’re on tour, with all of us contributing various parts, only with a more minimal four-track feel to it” claimed Robbie Furze.
“We want to write it on the road, then the second we finish the tour go straight in the studio and record it live to disc, cut it straight onto the record and have it in the shops by nine o’clock the next morning.”
