Hairy Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro are set to begin work on their new album over Christmas.
With ‘Only Revolutions’ Biffy Clyro finally broke through to the mainstream. The Ayrshire trio honed their explosive rock template, with extensive touring introducing them to thousands of new fans.
The album smashed into the Top Ten, spawning two hit singles. The band’s most successful effort to date, ‘Only Revolutions’ has outsold all of Biffy Clyro’s previous albums and marked their arrival as a major rock phenomenon.
Set to kickstart a massive new British tour later this year, the dates include a one off show at Wembley Arena – the band’s largest gig yet.
After this, Biffy Clyro are set to return to Scotland to begin work on new material. “It is something we are really excited about,” bass player James Johnston explained.
“We have started doing a little bit of work, but until we are truly off the road we never really think about recording.”
Speaking to The Daily Record, the bass player explained that writing sessions will begin at Christmas. “When we get some time at home over Christmas, we will start concentrating on the new songs. We are eager, we are excited but we understand you only get one chance to make a record and we don’t want to mess it up, we won’t rush it then forever regret it.”
Nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, ‘Only Revolutions’ will be difficult for the band to top. “I think there is pressure on us because of the success of ‘Only Revolutions’,” James Johnston said.
“But we will truly find out when we sit down to write and record. I am hoping, because we are still up in Scotland and out of the eyes of the industry in a way, we can be ourselves and do things the way we want to do them.”
Meanwhile, Biffy Clyro are set to release their new B-sides compilation ‘Lonely Revolutions’ later this year.
