Happy Mondays member Bez has confirmed that his dancing days are behind him due to repeated injuries.
When the Happy Mondays finally got around to writing the credits for their records, the band faced a problem. Bez danced onstage and provided atmosphere, but he didn’t actually do anything in the studio.
The solution? Create a new role. Credited merely as ‘Bez’ the dancer became an icon for the Acid House generation.
Sadly, it seems as though Bez’ dancing days are over. Happy Mondays reformed earlier this year, confirming a lengthy British tour. Yet it seems that the iconic dancer won’t be performing with the band.
Chatting with the NME, Bez explained that he is set to act as compère and DJ – but he won’t be dancing. “I won’t be on the stage because my performing days are over. Basically I’m too old” he explained. “I’m incapable of doing the job, I’m carrying too many injuries. All good things come to an end.”
