Yesterday, Beyoncé revealed the name of Act II of her purported three-part trilogy, ‘Cowboy Carter’.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Beyoncé announced her new album with the release of two singles, ‘16 Carriages‘ and ‘Texas Hold ’Em‘. The latter hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains at the top of the UK Singles chart. In the States, Beyoncé made history as the first Black woman ever to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
Alongside the album title reveal, Beyoncé unveiled four variant vinyl and physical bundle editions of the album, with the final album artwork and tracklist to be revealed at a later date.
The last few days have been busy for the Beyhive. Beyond murmurs of a potential Dolly Parton cover or feature, fans have been speculating about the hidden themes and motifs behind the title ‘Cowboy Carter’, and the promo art which shows a Rodeo Queen sash on a saddle. Beyond being her surname by marriage, the title honours Bey’s Southern roots, with a visual reference to the colours of the Lone Star state flag, and a nod to “Carter Cowboys” American football team in Dallas, Texas.
It’s all interconnected. Roll on March 29th.
