Beyonce and Jay-Z have confirmed the birth of a baby girl, named Blue Ivy Carter.
Jay-Z and Beyonce are a true power couple. Either artist can pack out arena venues across the globe, with the hip hop icon recently completing an enormous tour with producer, competitor and collaborator Kanye West.
The couple’s every move is scrutinised, with Beyonce’s pregnancy sparking immense press coverage. Giving birth over the weekend, the world has been able to welcome young Blue Ivy Carter.
Confirmed – as always – on Twitter, Rihanna revealed that the childbirth had gone according to plan. Close friend Gwyneth Paltrow offered her congratulations, and revealed the baby girl’s full name: “Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.”
Blue Ivy Carter was born yesterday (January 8th) yet is already hugely in demand. The first baby photos will no doubt spark a media frenzy, with Beyonce’s debut appearance as a mother due to cause headlines.
For now, though, friends and family can only offer congratulations. Rihanna tweeted: “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”
Meanwhile, former Def Jam boss and Jay-Z associate Russell Simmons wrote: “Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.”
