Lead singer with The Gossip Beth Ditto has revealed herself to be a fan of reality television, jokingly reaching out to Susan Boyle.
Susan Boyle has become one of the most recognisable women on the planet in just a few weeks. The timid talent from Blackburn in Scotland could not have dreamt that her audition for Britain’s Got Talent would have such far reaching consequences.
Entering onstage to barely stifled laughter from the audience, it was widely expected that Boyle would be slaughtered by the unforgiving judges. Yet in what has become an iconic television moment Susan Boyle revealed herself to be a sensational singer, leaving the stage to unanimous applause.
Becoming a modern day Cinderella parable, the singer was almost immediately bombarded with media attention. The clip of her performance became a stunning YouTube success, as America took the Scotswoman to its heart.
However it all became too much for Boyle, who was forced to seek help in The Priory after losing the live television final. Defeated and exhausted, the singer had endured a torrid time in the cynical and unforgiving British tabloids.
However help could be at hand. Beth Ditto from The Gossip has spoken out on the episode, jokingly suggesting that she wants to duet with the Scottish singer.
“I’m reaching out to Susan. She should hook up with me and The Priests. We would be the world’s first gospel supergroup” she told The Sun.
Referring to the continual press attention, Ditto said “I think it’s horrible people have been making fun of her. Susan just wants to love Jesus and sing – it’s cute. Only I can help her out of her meltdown.”
Beth Ditto is set for a busy summer. The Gossip singer has been locked up in the studio recently, crafting the band’s eagerly awaited album ‘Music For Men’.
The band’s first since their sensational dance-punk breakthrough hit ‘Standing In The Way Of Control’ the album is also their first to be released through a major label. An important stepping stone for the group, and one which Beth Ditto elaborated on in an exclusive interview with Clash Magazine.
