Bessie Turner has shared her new single 'Down 2' – tune in now.
It's been a year of triumphs and deep lows for the songwriter, who supported Ed Sheeran before battling ill health.
Recovering from sepsis, she's pushing ahead, set to play Iceland Airwaves this week.
Returning to the UK for a one off London show at Folklore on December 4th, she's ready to share something new.
'Down 2' was co-crafted with The Vaccines' Justin Young, and she describes it as an "angry love song".
A spicy indie pop bop, it's an emphatic return that drives remorselessly towards that killer chorus.
Bessie Turner explains…
“‘Down 2’ is a kind of angry love song. It's about wanting someone to give a shit but also wanting the opposite of that. The conflict of greedy emotions; you're totally down and miserable when they're around, but you also want them there because you realise that the problem might be a bit more deep rooted – and maybe you're just totally fucking miserable when you're on your own.”
“It's about internal feelings more than anything, the juxtaposition of knowing your worth but also not having enough self-respect to even make your bed when you get out of it. It's about the fear of being on your own. It's about using people for own gain. It's about distractions. It's about that whole bodily feeling you get when you think you've done something wrong, and you feel like you're about to be sick.”
