The songwriter has long been a CLASH favourite, his soulful exhortations standing out from the crowd. Taking time over his debut mixtape, Benny Atlas has peppered streaming services with singles, building his audience release by release.
Moving between skits and in-depth songwriting, ‘Better Now You Know’ is a delight. Constructing an immersive realm, his vocals soar, the autobiographical material touching on some innermost emotions.
Forever reaching outwards, ‘Better Now You Know’ feels like an act of communion; at times sombre, at others engaging and funny, it’s a mixtape built with care and attention.
