Benin City’s ‘Lord Of The Manor’ Channels “Defiance, Survival, And A Grin”

Check out the group's new single...

Benin City have shared their new single 'Lord Of The Manor' – tune in now.

The three piece match club currents to astute lyricism and some taut songwriting, bolstered by a bolshy, effervescent live energy.

Continually creative, the trio – vocalists Joshua Idehen and Shanaz Dorsett and multi-instrumentalist Tom Leaper – are currently finishing off a new EP.

New single 'Lord Of The Manor' leads the way, and it's a supremely confident return, one etched in London parlance.

It's a day in the life of a kid in the capital, something Joshua Idehen describes as "defiance, survival, and a grin…"

Produced by Ghost Culture, 'Lord Of The Manor' is a storming piece of dance-pop. Joshua explains:

“I saw a young boy doing a wheelie with no front wheel down Morningside Lane Street, staring down all comers with a “yeah, and what?’ grin on his face. The image appears to be as a moment of defiance, like not even a stolen wheel can steal momentum, which seems to encapsulate my understanding of my working class upbringing in Britain: defiance, survival, and a grin.”

Tune in now.
