Belle & Sebastian musician Stevie Jackson has completed work on a new solo album.
Although led by Stuart Murdoch, Belle & Sebastian remain a band in every sense. Returning with ‘Write About Love’ last year, the Glasgow group embarked on a lengthy series of tour dates.
Focussed mainly on the United States, the tour saw Belle & Sebastian get some air into their lungs. Now entering one of their periodic down times, the band are working on a number of side projects.
Stevie Jackson is the first to break cover, confirming the release of the amusingly titled album ‘(I Can’t Get No) Stevie Jackson’. Out on October 24th, several members of Belle & Sebastian dropped by during the sessions.
Exclaim broke the news, with some songs dating back as far as 2006. Guest stars include The New Pornographers’ Kurt Dahle and John Collins, The Pastels’ Katrina Mitchell and more.
