Belle & Sebastian Launch Song Competition

Winner gets... a song?

Belle & Sebastian are set to craft a song in honour of one of their fans as part of an unusual competition.

Belle & Sebastian are known for having a close relationship with their fans. The band thrive on a sense of approachability, the knowledge that despite their acclaim the band are really just ordinary people.

Returning with their new album ‘Belle & Sebastian Write About Love’ the Glasgow group have ended a four year period of silence. Confirming details of a new tour, it seems that the band have one more trick up their sleeves.

Stateside copies of the new album will come with a special promotional code, which is part of a new competition. Label Matador has announced that fans should head over to their website and enter the code.

Fans will then be invited to submit 300 words on the topic of “love, in any sense of the word.” It sounds easier than it is, believe us!

Belle & Sebastian will then sift through the entrants, before deciding which person should win. The Glasgow indie heroes will then fly out to wherever the winner lives, spend the day with them and craft a song in their honour.

Due to be released in 2011, the prize is a genuine once in a lifetime shot – so grab those pens and get scribbling.

The catch? It’s only open to residents of the United States. Bummer.

Meanwhile, the band are putting the finishing touches to the line up of Bowlie 2. Tickets are sold out, with the Minehead event part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of All Tomorrows Parties.
