Belbury Poly are set to return with new album ‘The Belbury Tales’ on February 24th.
A loose knit collective of musicians, producers and visual artists Belbury Poly remain one of the most fascinating properties in English music. We emphasise the ‘English’ aspect here – the band appeal to that other, strange England which seems to remain tantalisingly out of reach…
Returning with new document ‘The Belbury Tales’ the collective seem to have found renewed focus. Belbury Poly have crafted a concept album, which hinges on the usual sonic touchstones of long lost prog, Acid folk and primitive electronics.
The Belbury Parish blog confirmed plans for the release, which “explores ideas about the re-invention of the past and along the way spins some tall tales about childhood, the supernatural, initiation and pilgrimage (both spiritual and physical).”
Augmented by drummer Jim Musgrave and bassist / guitarist Christopher Budd, ‘The Belbury Tales’ looks to be another fascinating step forward from the collective.
Helpfully, Belbury Poly have gathered together a few clips of new material taken from their Radio Belbury shows. Stream the clips below…
