XL Recordings have announced the capture of genre-hopping superstar Beck who will release new album through the label this summer.
The as yet untitled album has been produced in conjunction with hip hop’s star of the moment Danger Mouse. The workaholic producer is also responsible for new albums by the likes of The Shortwave Set, Martina Topley-Bird and Gnarls Barkley.
Beck re-released his 1996 album “Odelay” last year to great acclaim. That album was produced by hip hop crew The Dust Brothers and it is hoped that the new record might match that seminal classic. The last album Beck released was the successful “The Information” back in 2006, and fans are waiting in fevered anticipation to see what this musical chameleon will emerge with.
The new album by Beck is due this summer. Meanwhile, Beck has arranged the following UK dates:
July 1st – Southampton, Guildhall
July 2nd – Manchester, Apollo
July 4th – Wireless Festival, Hyde Park, London
