The Beatles are set to release re-mastered versions of their back catalogue on stereo vinyl later this year.
Decades may pass, entire political systems may crumble into the dust but The Beatles remain The Beatles. In 2010 the Fab Four entered the digital realm, placing re-mastered versions of their back catalogue on iTunes for the first time. A team at Abbey Road spruced up the original tapes, adding a new clarity to those iconic recordings.
Now The Beatles are to bring this fresh fidelity to vinyl, with each studio album set to be re-issued in a stereo format. The re-issues will remain explicitly faithful to the original packaging, down to little details such as the poster in 'The Beatles (The White Album)', the cut-outs in 'The Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band' and special inner bags for some of the titles.
Available individually, the full catalogue will also be presented in a boxed format alongside a book authored by award-winning radio producer Kevin Howlett. Featuring chapters on each studio album, the book also contains imagery from throughout the band's career.
In all, the project includes all 12 studio albums alongside 'Magical Mystery Tour' – originally a Stateside oriented release – and 'Past Masters, Volumes One & Two', which boasts a number of off cuts, B-sides and more.
The Beatles are set to re-issue their studio albums on stereo vinyl on November 12th.
