Beastie Boys Recording

Hip Hop Group Busy In Studio

Hip hop legends The Beastie Boys are currently rockin’ the vote in a series of US concerts, but the band have revealed that they are also working on a new album.

The Beastie Boys have been extremely politically active these days – as well as urging fans to vote for US presidential candidate Barack Obama the group have taken to the road in a series of benefit concerts. These rap based voter drives have proven to be effective, with the band playing to packed out crowds at every show.

Taking time off, band member Ad-Rock told US magazine Billboard that the group had begun recording their much anticipated new album, stating that “we’re actually in the middle of recording it right now”.

The new album will apparently be rap heavy, with Ad-Rock commenting “It’s a lot of vocals, a lot of words — very wordy. And it’s political, depending on what you call political. You know, if toilet talk and fart jokes are political, which they can be, in that sense yeah, very.”

The new Beastie Boys album is thought to be scheduled for a 2009 release date.
