Beastie Boys Plan New Album

But it's not 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1'

Beastie Boys have confirmed that they will release a batch of new material next year.

The eternal naughty boys of hip hop, Beastie Boys were stopped in their tracks last year. Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer, issuing a video statement to fans revealing that he was set to undergo treatment.

Fears over the MC’s health were widespread, with Adam Yauch entering hospital. However the treatment was a success, with the rapper able to go back into the studio earlier this year.

Before taking a break Beastie Boys were set to release ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 1’ but this was immediately shelved. Becoming a ‘great lost album’ the band have now confirmed a release date – for a different album.

Beastie Boys are due to return next year, with the rap trio set to release new material. However a posting on their official website warned that ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 1’ will remain postponed indefinitely.

“Although we regret to inform you that ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 1’ will continue to be delayed indefinitely, ‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 2’ will be released on time as originally planned in spring of 2011.”

‘Hot Sauce Committee Part 1’ contained a raft of guest stars, including a spot from Santigold. Little is known about ‘Part 2’ but the album is widely expected to feature a number of collaborations.

Suffering from cancer of the preaortic gland and lymph node, Adam Yauch is now well on the way to recovery. Throughout his treatment the band have kept in touch with fans, displaying remarkably high spirits.

Elsewhere, Beastie Boys have been nominated for a place in the ‘Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’. The band face tough competition, but could celebrate their return with a place in the museum.
