Seminal rap trio Beastie Boys are close to unveiling their long awaited album ‘Hot Sauce Committee’.
One of the best loved groups in hip hop, Beastie Boys have moved from rap brats into elder statesmen of American music. Never losing their sense of humour, fans were left shocked when Adam Yauch revealed that he was suffering from cancer.
Undergoing treatment, the news forced the cancellation of the group’s album ‘Hot Sauce Committee’. Their first rap release for six years, it apparently featured a raft of guest stars including Santigold.
With Adam Yauch on the mend, Beastie Boys have begun to look tentatively towards releasing ‘Hot Sauce Committee’. In a new interview Mike D claimed that the band are working towards a September release.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the rapper revealed that Adam Yauch is feeling “pretty good” at present.
Asked about the long awaited album, Mike D compared making music to making wine. “We’ve been letting it age,” he said. “The writing is the growing of the grapes, and we’ve already macerated, and at this point, it’s been living in a barrel and being stored in bottles in the cellar, and hopefully by September, we will uncork.”
However the rapper did also state that the finished product may be different to how Beastie Boys envisaged the album back in 2009. “Maybe 16 of the songs will survive, and one will get cut, or get a substitution,” he said.
Beastie Boys are set to release ‘Hot Sauce Committee’ in September.
