Beach House To Release iTunes EP

Six track release due next week

American dream pop group Beach House are set to release a new EP through iTunes next week.

Beach House have been one of the breakthrough success stories of the year so far. Building up a cult following with their beautiful soundscapes, the band unleashed ‘Teen Dream’ to widespread acclaim.

Receiving across the board warm reviews, ‘Teen Dream’ benefited from word of mouth hype. The band have toured across Europe, with each jaunt finding Beach House at home in bigger and bigger venues.

Playing a select batch of summer festivals, Beach House recently returned to the studio to record a special six track EP. Playing stripped down versions of old favourites, the band also chose to debut a new song.

Taking material from ‘Teen Dream’ and 2008’s ‘Devotion’ Beach House have added new track ‘White Moon’. Recorded as a live session, the new six track EP will be released through iTunes on September 13th.

Alex Scally explained that the live session came after a bout of heavy touring. “We recorded these six songs after touring for 12 straight weeks. Whenever we are asked to record stripped-down versions of our songs, we cringe, because for us this means that all of the subtlety and attention to detail will be lost, and a rich song risks being turned into a bland, generic one.”

“So when iTunes offered to have us record a stripped-down live session, we were very hesitant. We found out that we could record with our friend Chris Coady, and we agreed, believing we might be able to make it meaningful. During the week or two of sound-checks leading up to the recording, we worked through the songs and attempted to rewrite them with fewer and different tones. Listeners can judge whether or not we were able to make these ‘stripped-down’ versions mean something”.
