‘Be Bop A Lula’, the successful Sunset Strip play about Rock’n’Roll legends Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran, is set to rock the Edinburgh Fringe with it’s UK debut and 15 night run at the Sweet Grand venue.
Focusing on a night in an anonymous hotel in North England during their shared 1960 tour, the dramatised events see Cochrane have a premonition of his early death (Cochrane died in a car crash weeks later into the tour), a visitation from a devilish apparition of Buddy Holly and an encounter with some local girls.
First unleashed in Los Angeles, the play moved venues due to demand and found a home on Sunset Strip, attracting producers Adam Ant and The Doors’ John Densmore. Written by Hollywood figure Rex Weiner, it’s Fringe run is a UK debut and is sure to attract fans of the two legends, played by Aaron DuPree as Gene Vincent and Chance Dean as Eddie Cochran.
Running at the Sweet Grand in the Edinburgh College of Art (Venue 186) from Sunday 16th August (preview night), at 8:00PM, until 30th August with daily performances.
