BC Camplight will release new album ‘The Last Rotation Of Earth’ on May 12th.
The project is rooted in the imagination of songwriter Brian Christinzio, a songwriter who lets his life pour out on record. Bracingly honest, his work also has a curious pop touch, aligned to the cathartic qualities of his word-play.
New album ‘The Last Rotation Of Earth’ is out on May 12th, sparked by the dissolution of a nine year relationship. Suddenly adrift, the experience exposed underlying mental health issues, as well as experiences with addiction.
Working endlessly on the material, he then scrapped 95% of his ideas, before returning to the UK and completing the album in a mere two months. “This is not a story of victory,” he says. “It is a document created in the shadow of incredible darkness. One from which the creator hadn’t planned on escaping, and still doesn’t. Hence the title of the album. It is the result of an illness that I’ve battled my whole life. It isn’t something that the world has done to me. It’s the world I live in and it’s no one’s fault.”
Out on May 12th, there’s also a full UK tour in November, with BC Camplight sharing the title track in full. There’s a curious buoyancy to the arrangement that belies the lyrical heft, the heaviness of the emotion shrouded in a veil of light.
Tune in now.
