BBC Sound Of 2023: Long List Revealed

Who would you pick...?

The long list for this year’s BBC Sound Of 2023 poll has been revealed.

The annual survey brings together some of the hottest talent around, voted for by radio broadcasters, journalists, and other specialists across the music industry.

Previous winners include 2022 champion PinkPantheress, while other victors range from Stormzy and Adele through to Jorja Smith and Billie Eilish.

This year’s long list is typically eclectic, ranging from afrobeats kingpin Asake to neo-soul songwriter Biig Piig via girl group FLO, super producer Fred again.., Cat Burns, Dylan, Gabriels, and newgen jungle trailblazer Nia Archives.

Chris Price, Head of Music for Radio 1, says: “This year’s Sound Of longlist is one of the strongest and most diverse we’ve ever published. The most striking thing about it is the breadth of genres represented. Every single artist on the list has been incubated on Radio 1’s playlist and specialist output; whoever wins, we can be sure that 2023 will be a vintage year for new Pop, Dance, R&B, Soul, Drum & Bass, Afrobeats and Indie.”

The winner of BBC Sound Of 2023 will be revealed on January 5th.
