One of the most effective platforms for new music in the country, BBC Introducing has helped launch countless careers.
Reaching the ripe old age of seven next year, the team at BBC Introducing have pieced together a new compilation album featuring some of their major success stories.
Each track was recorded at a BBC Introducing event, and features everyone from JUCE to Jake Bugg, Bombay Bicycle Club to Everything Everything.
JUCE:
BBC Introducing is incredible, it gives a brilliant platform to connect artists into Radio 1 and the BBC. When we uploaded our song to BBC Introducing we were unsigned and the exposure helped raise our profile at the start of our career. Our song 'Call You Out' was added to the BBC Introducing Playlist, a month later we were invited to play on their stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend, our first festival experience.
Everything Everything:
Back in 2009, when we were ready to graduate to bigger festival stages, BBC Introducing was there to give us the opportunity. We played Reading and Leeds, and signed our first album deal three months later. When we started touring abroad we became more keenly aware of how unique the BBC is as a publicly funded institution, and how it is greatly admired the world over for taking its responsibility to new, emerging artists so seriously. There's nothing else like it and we and countless others are extremely lucky to have benefitted from its support.
'BBC Introducing Presents… Volume 1' will be released on March 16th.
