New York based math-rock outfit Battles are set to play some rare live shows for their label Warp’s anniversary.
Although it was founded as an exclusively electronic entity, Warp has since branched out to sign guitar acts. While some of these are strikingly commercial – hello Maximo Park – others are perhaps as out-there as Aphex Twin at his weirdest.
Battles were founded from the ashes of cult math rock pioneers Don Cabellero, with the band releasing their debut album ‘Mirrored’ in 2007. A huge success, it has already spawned a host of imitators trying to get to grips with their ground-breaking style.
The band’s live appearances have been thin on the ground of late, with Battles choosing instead to focus on new material. Battles are set to break cover, however, with special appearances at two new events.
With Warp turning 20 this year the label is due to celebrate with a series of events. The imprint will host events in London and Berlin later this year featuring some of the finest acts from their illustrious roster.
Battles are set to headline both London and Berlin shows. The American rock pioneers are joined at London’s Coronet venue by Broadcast and Plaid.
More acts are due to be announced closer to the show, with fans who buy tickets also set to receive a copy of Warp’s ‘2010’ album, featuring tracks by acts including Gonjasufi, The Hundred In The Hands, Flying Lotus, Bibio and more.
The Berlin show is set to feature the math rock group alongside Nice Nice, Gravenhurst and a DJ set from !!!.
Battles are set to play the following Warp shows:

4 Berlin Berghain
