Mercury nominated singer Bat For Lashes has told fans of her love of iconic British music event Glastonbury.
After a year of waiting, Glastonbury is upon us again. Sure, some are already predicting a wash out with the first rain falling as our men in the field were erecting their tent. But hell, we’ll be watching it on the BBC so who are we to worry?
This year looks set to be a bumper crop for music fans. Headliners include Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Blur with hundreds of other acts due to perform. As previously reported, Maximo Park were set to open the event with a special set chosen by fans.
With the gates open, fans are flooding into Worthy Farm at record levels. By close of play yesterday (June 25th) nearly 100,000 people were already on site with the main stages not even open.
Bat For Lashes are set to play the Somerset event. Led by spectral songwriter Natasha Khan, the band’s debut album ‘Fur And Gold’ was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize on its release in 2006, eventually losing out to Klaxons.
Touring heavily, the band won a cult following in America. Returning to the recording studio, Natasha Khan began work on a fresh batch of songs. Just as innovative and unique as her debut album, follow up ‘Two Suns’ was released earlier this year to great acclaim.

Announcing a host of live dates, Bat For Lashes showed that they had lost none of their magical sparkle with a series of sensational shows. Now set to play Glastonbury, Natasha Khan told XFM how best to enjoy the weekend.
“The thing about Glastonbury is exploring and coming across things that you’ve never heard of before,” the singer said. “There’s plenty of that, it just doesn’t get promoted as much. So if you can get off your behind, hopefully there’s some interesting stuff going on.”
Glastonbury is continuing to confirm new acts. This week alone Klaxons and N.E.R.D. have been announced as playing special sets, with The Dead Weather confirmed by organisers yesterday (June 25th).
Led by Jack White the band have played only a handful of dates thus far, with The Dead Weather’s debut album ‘Horehound’ being highly anticipated.
