Bat For Lashes has shared new song ‘Home’.
The revered songwriter is now back in the UK, experiencing motherhood and the shifts it brings to her life. New album ‘The Dream Of Delphi’ (out on May 31st) deals with this, and it harbours beautiful song ‘Home’.
A paean to balance and roots, ‘Home’ is penned from mother to daughter, with the lyrics designed to play a role on the child’s life.
The titular Delphi is the subject of adoration, and the lilting melody has a way of sticking in your head long after the final note. Out now, there’s a kind of enchanting innocence to ‘Home’ that belies the song’s simplicity.
“It was Delphi’s favourite song,” she reflects; “We just played it over and over and over again every time we got in the car and she’d giggle and squeal. So I did it for her, really – because when she looks back on this album, we can say that was your favourite song that you loved as a little baby”.
