Frontman of Canadian group Barenaked Ladies Steven Page has been arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, it has been announced.
The group have just finished a children’s album called “Snacktime!” and we preparing to go on tour when Page was arrested. The frontman is originally from Canada, but was arrested at a friend’s home in Fayetteville, New York.
Police Captain Bill Bleyle told the Associated Press that suspicions were aroused when police saw a parked car with its passenger door open. After looking up the license plate number they arrived at the home of Page’s friend, Christine Benedicto, and saw Page with a white capsule that allegedly tested positive for cocaine.
The news comes as a major blow to the band, whose fun loving charm charm has seen them become one of Canada’s biggest musical exports.
