It's a new move from the social app...

Social music app BandLab has launched its new Albums service.

The app has developed the new service to allow creators to directly upload their music, selling it directly through the app.

Easy to use - just three simple steps and you're away, essentially - Albums is also financially beneficial to artists.

In a new move BandLab will allow artists to claim 100% of the income from sales, something even Bandcamp doesn't do.

Currently available as a web app, new Android and iOS versions are set to launch shortly.

It's an intriguing development, and a sign, perhaps, of the cultural weight shifting back towards artists in the digital environment.

CEO of BandLab, Meng Ru Kuok comments:

"Our users are at the heart of our product. Beyond the continued development of our next-generation solution for the music creation process, we’re incredibly committed to supporting our growing base of creators at each stage of their creative journey."

"We want that journey to last a lifetime, and releasing Albums is an important step in allowing our artists and independent labels to create sustainable revenue streams for themselves whilst keeping them completely in control and ownership of their own content."

"We’re really looking forward to seeing what artistic statements our users will make with Albums, and hope that the ability to earn from creating will empower more people to make music."
