Bandcamp Campaign Raises $4.3 Million For Artists

In just one day...

Bandcamp's decision to waive fees has allowed artists to raise more than $4.3 million in income.

The platform is an underground hub, with its community ethos allowing different creative networks to permeate its structure.

With live music being crushed by the impact of coronavirus, Bandcamp decided to waive its fees for 24 hours as a show of support.

Fans flocked to the platform, and in 24 hours more than 800,000 items of music and merch were sold.

In all, that's 15 times their normal Friday amount, and resulted in more than $4.3 million in income.

At one point the service was even knocked offline, with fans buying around 11 items per second at its peak.
