Band Of Skulls Working On New Album

With a North American tour in the offing

Band Of Skulls have confirmed that they are working on material for their proposed second album.

With dance culture in the ascendance, Band Of Skulls are something of an anomaly. The Southampton group take their inspiration from dirty, sweaty rock ‘n’ roll groups and have the riffs to match.

Guitar heavy debut ‘Baby Darling Doll Face’ was a critical success – sure, it looked back to Prehistoric rock but it did so with a knowing nudge and wink that re-assured you it was all about having fun.

Touring across the UK, Band Of Skulls took their leather jacket clad rock ‘n’ roll show to the States earlier this year. Performing at SXSW, the group won some important press with our American cousins soon falling for their charms.

On a roll, the band have now decided to work on their second album. Initial sessions began in Norfolk last year, with Band Of Skulls then deciding to move back to their home studio in Southampton.

Set to work on the album at Rockfield Studios in Wales, the album will be produced by Ian Davenport (Supergrass, Badly Drawn Boy) and will be mixed by Nick Launay (Grinderman, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire).

Currently, Band Of Skulls are working towards a 2012 release with an EP due at the tail end of this year. Right now, though, the band are packing their bags for a series of North American tour dates.

Opening in Atlanta, Georgia on September 24th the shows continue with appearance in New York and the Toronto.
