BADBADNOTGOOD and Charlotte Day Wilson combine on new single, ‘Sleeper’, out via XL Recordings. The compatriots have regularly teamed up, most notably on BADBADNOTGOOD’s acclaimed album ‘IV’, on the track ‘In Your Eyes’ and Wilson’s 2021 track ‘I Can Only Whisper’.
Recorded at the famed and fabled Valentine Recording Studios on analogue tape, ‘Sleeper’ is a road-tested demo brought to life, telling a drifter’s tale through Charlotte Day Wilson’s dulcet tone over an instrumental that meanders between traditional and new wave jazz.
Speaking on ‘Sleeper’ and working with BADBADNOTGOOD again, Charlotte Day Wilson says: “’Sleeper’ wrote itself…we were in the studio just messing around and the guys came up with the colorful instrumental while I freestyled the lyrics. The song portrays someone who chooses the path of least resistance and finds themselves in a lifeless, loveless relationship.”
