Pete Doherty played a surprise Halloween party in east London on Friday night (October 31st) it has emerged.
The Babyshambles singer has been returning to his roots on the secret gig scene by playing a number of shows in flats around London. This latest Halloween themed party was advertised on internet forums and saw Doherty descend on a flat in Whitechapel.
Wearing a black cat mask and smoking a cigarette, Doherty launched into a slowed down version of the classic Strokes’ single ‘The Modern Age’ before performing a number of his own songs and a few requests from the audience. The old Libertines song ‘Never Never’ was hauled out, amid rumors that Amy Winehouse was set to appear – however, the ‘Rehab’ singer presumably didn’t get her invite.
After Doherty’s set Babyshambles guitarist Mik Whitnall performed a short solo set, including a cover of Oasis’ hymn to debauchery ‘Cigarettes And Alcohol’.
Babyshambles are currently writing and recording their third album.
