Acclaimed songwriter Babybird has firmed up plans to kick start 2010 with an album and a new tour.
One of most mis-understood acts of the 90s, Babybird scored a massive hit with their single ‘You’re Gorgeous’. A subtle re-writing of the beauty industry the track was instead used as a last dance at school discos, injecting some romance into those three hour long hormone battles.
Releasing a series of critically acclaimed albums Babybird never again scales those commercial heights. Cult favourites, the group centred on songwriter Stephen Jones who hung up the mantle in 2000.
Returning with his sixth studio album, Babybird will storm 2010. Confirming details of new material, Stephen Jones has spent the bulk of this year in the recording studio with producers Bruce Witkin and Ryan Dorn.
The pair are close friends with Johnny Depp, who in turn is a massive fan of Babybird. The actor makes a guest appearance on the album, dropping by the recording studio in Los Angeles.
