Babe channel synth perfection on new cut 'Ecce Poque'.
The sometimes Glasgow / sometimes London band will release new album 'Kiss & Tell' next year, and it's billed as a salute to their synth pop influences.
Singer Gerard Black has often recited his love of premiere art-pop outfit Japan, and this definitely shines through on their new track.
'Ecce Poque' is a glorious, glistening piece of electronic pop, recalling everything from those formative Balearic sounds to Hot Chip's imperial phase.
Much like the album itself, the new track aims to cut through the darkness. “It’s all about aspiring to have a better life, basically,” explains Gerard. “It talks about depression but not in an obvious way. It’s not just a record for me; as I get older I feel everyone around me starts to become bogged down with more and more emotional baggage.”
Tune in now.
'Kiss & Tell' is due to be released on April 28th.
