Ayra Starr Stuns With ‘Rhythm & Blues’

"It’s safe to say I’ve let my guard down..."

Ayra Starr has shared new single ‘Rhythm & Blues’.

The Beninese-born Nigerian icon made her debut in 2021, and since then she’s notched up an incredible one billion streams. Melting together music and fashion, her daring debut album ’19 & Dangerous’ broke boundaries, the sound of someone speaking their truth.

Ayra tours the UK in November, and to celebrate she’s just shared something new. ‘Rhythm & Blues’ lets her guard drop a little, containing some of her most personal lyrics yet.

Daring to vulnerable, Ayra Starr has found that – sometimes – softness can be your strength. In a note to fans she comments…

I consider myself a hard girl void of vulnerability, I would say love songs were cheesy and wouldn’t think of making one but I’ve finally found a balance. I’ve put myself out there and I’m allowing myself receive and give love through music and it’s safe to say I’ve let my guard down with ‘Rhythm and Blues’.

Adding the Ayra Starr colour to afrobeats with the melodies, riffs and runs and overall delivery, ‘Rhythm and Blues’ was quite easy to make while collaborating with Sparrq and Novemba. It shows that I can be vulnerable while still being a strong woman embracing my emotions

Tune in now.
