Automotion’s ‘Liquify’ Is An Exercise In Tension

Produced by The Horrors' Faris Badwan, no less...

South London mavericks Automotion have shared new single ‘Liquify’.

The band are a ferocious live force, underground heroes on the South London scene. Brixton Windmill mainstays, they’ve shared pints – and god alone knows what else – with the likes of Fat Dog and Maruja, amongst others.

Recent EP ‘Artificial Ascent’ helped get Automotion’s feral sound down on record, and this next single takes the four-piece to fresh heights.

Produced by The Horrors’ own Faris Badwan there’s a sense of sonic attack to new single ‘Liquify’, with its boiling hot tension forged by several disparate influences. There’s an element of prog at its weirdest, but the court of Automotion doesn’t stop there, adjusting to the shuddering rhythms of Shellac, say.

Mixed by Patrick James Fitzroy (PVA, Sorry, Katy J Pearson), it’s a potent elixir, blending their live prowess with a sense of rigid control.

Vocalist Jesse Hitchman shares…

“The inspiration for the track came from an old school Jungle dance track yet through the process of writing has become so far removed from its influence that it has a life of its own”. Hitchman added that ‘Liquify’ is “driven by the tension between the desire to create something new and having personal taste”.

Tune in now.
