Australian Benefit Gigs Announced

Kings Of Leon, Midnight Oil to play

A series of massive benefit concerts have been organised to raise money for those affected by the recent bush fires in Australia.

The fires swept across the southern state of Victoria leaving widespread devastation in its wake. People around the world were left shocked by the scale of the destruction, which left at least 210 people dead.

Two concerts have been organised, with one in Melbourne and another in Sydney on the same day. The Melbourne show will be headlined by Kings Of Leon and reformed Australian rockers Midnight Oil.

Joining the southern lords of indie will be Wolfmother, Gabriella Cilmi and Jack Johnson.

Over in Sydney meanwhile the crowds will be kept entertained by Grammy slaying giants Coldplay.

Midnight Oil’s frontman Peter Garrett is now an Australian politician and told the BBC the concerts would “give people affected by the terrible events what they dearly need”.

It is hoped the Red Cross bushfire appeal will raise at least A$4 million.

The Australian bushfire concerts will take place on March 14th.
