Classical meets electronica trio Aufgang are to launch a new remix competition – full details below.
In some ways, the classical world and electronic music aren't quite poles apart. Both veer away from the rigid structure of the pop song, allowing artists to focus on pure sound.
Sitting somewhere between both, Aufgang are gearing up for their debut UK shows. The German trio match an experimental approach to songwriting borrowed from the classical realm to flecks of electronica, allowing their imaginations to spiral off into the distance as a result.
Second album 'Istiklaliya' is set to gain a full UK release on May 13th, but ahead of this Aufgang will be hosting a remix competition. New single 'Kyrie' is a flurry of exciting new ideas, featuring two classically trained pianists battling it out against a formidable percussionist.
Opening themselves up to new collaborators, the trio have decided to invite fans to take part in the remix process. Simply download the stems (HERE), then re-craft 'Kyrie' in your own image – upload the results to a competition Dropbox (HERE), then wait for the group to peruse your entry.
Closing on May 5th, the winner will be announced on May 20th. If you re-work 'Kyrie' into the grand prize winning remix, and you'll see your version available on an exclusive remix package via InFiné Records, while you will be invited to DJ at the InFiné label showcase night at Oval Space on May 23rd. The 10 best ones will win the vinyl limited edition of the Aufgang album (double gatefold vinyl with an embroidered shield).
