Newly-signed to South London talent incubator Touching Bass, Paris-based, Cameroon-born artist Astrønne unveils her first solo release of 2023, the folky reverie ‘Reconnect’.
Drawing on the Jungian concept of the ‘wounded healer’, dissecting her experience navigating the creative community in Paris, and the practice of being live musician, ‘Reconnect’ builds on the self-styled premise of her early releases – “folkadelic jive” – which takes cues from jazz, RnB, Tropicalia, folk and more.
On the inspiration behind ‘Reconnect’, Astrønne says: “it’s about gauging how genuine my interactions are in the music industry, keeping my head on my shoulders, my blood cold and holding on to the little tiny bit of perspective I have in order to make intelligent decisions”.
