New York dream pop merchants Asobi Seksu have revealed details of their new album ‘Acoustic At Olympic’.
Hailing from the Big Apple, Asobi Seksu aren’t known for treading in the footsteps of rock gods. With their celestial harmonies and blissful guitars the band have built a reputation for taking shoegaze and bringing it wailing into the 21st century.
However after finishing a recent tour the band took advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity. At the urging of One Little Indian owner Derek Birkett the band decided to record a special acoustic set in EMI’s legendary Olympic Studios.
Once the home of chart mangling rock gods, Olympic Studios gave birth to seminal albums by Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Who and more. Asobi Seksu entered the studio shortly after it was sold off, becoming one of the last group’s to record there.
The end result is the new album ‘Acoustic At Olympic’. Containing songs from throughout the career of Asobi Seksu it blends well known singles with album tracks, B-sides and rarities.
Later mixed by Billy Pavone at his home studio in Brooklyn the new album shows another side to this intriguing group. Marking the final chapter in the history of an iconic studio, this opens another direction for Asobi Seksu.
Asobi Seksu are set to release their new album ‘Acoustic At Olympic’ on November 16th. In addition to this the band have been confirmed as the main support for White Lies upcoming British tour:
