Ashley Henry is the jazz composer co-signed by Christine and the Queens, a musician whose signature has been sought by major labels.
Inking a deal with Sony Records, new album 'Beautiful Vinyl Hunter' drops on September 6th, and it's the perfect encapsulation of Henry's wide-open creativity.
Take new single 'Between The Lines'. Its jazz roots are clear, with Ashley Henry's piano sparring against Grammy winner Keyon Harrold.
But there's also an awareness of the UK underground, with Manchester-based MC Sparkz spraying over the top.
A completely natural merging of genres, 'Between The Lines' reflects Ashley's approach to making music.
He comments: “My music is a straight up reflection of who I am; London in all its mixed up glory. The immigrant in me has musical roots that are traced back to the 1600s, so it’s important my music today reflects that jazz alpha narrative across different genres and generations”.
Tune in now.
Catch Ashley Henry at London's EartH venue on November 19th.
